The words concerning Christ:
“He will not quarrel nor cry out; nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.” (Matthew 12:19)
The Savior came into the world not with shouting in the streets. Though He was Lord of all, He walked in humility and obedience before the Father. His works testified of Him more than His words.
I considered this, how often men desire to be heard. Many proclaim loudly the goodness of God, speak often of their blessings, and contend endlessly over matters of Scripture. Yet the Lord did not call His people merely to speak of the Word, but to walk in it.
The life of Christ remains the perfect example. He did not seek the praise of men, but the will of His Father.
Therefore let me not be troubled if I am quiet by nature, nor if I am not always full of visible joy. The Lord knows the days appointed for me, both the days of rejoicing and the days of trial.
May I be slow to speak and quick to hear. May I seek not to make my voice known, but to know the voice of my Shepherd. May I be willing to do His will.
For a life surrendered to God speaks more loudly than words spoken in the streets.
